Our Philosophy
Monde du Brol celebrates stuff.
Born out of the desire to share beautiful and quirky second-hand treasures for the home and garden, we offer a plethora of items, artworks and trinkets. We believe that unique and pre-loved things add character and a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ to a space, whilst providing the opportunity to consume more responsibly and thoughtfully.
What is ‘brol‘, you ask?
We’re sure you know about it. Brol is a not so kind term for objects without a defined purpose or use for certain people, other than simply taking up space. Brol translates to a range of names such as: junk, Schrott, babioles, bauble, skräp, rommel or trash. To us, brol is a wonderful collection of objects and trinkets which we keep for the sole purpose of making us happy.
In a world that promotes minimalism, we revel in highly ornamented spaces where it is impossible to take it all in at first glance. We relish the things that accumulated over time, forming little cabinets of curiosities. Many of these things, other people would consider brol – but that’s the beauty of it: no one other than yourself can define what things make you happy or what makes you giggle out of excitement. And we are all for decorating your space as pleases you!
Sourcing and selling vintage, antique and secondhand objects means accepting small imperfections that make each item unique. At Monde du Brol, we don’t mind faulty items! We love to give them a second life and preventing them from going to landfill or being destroyed. We believe that each thing can have its purpose, even if it is to look pretty in your space. And who doesn’t love a good patina, or some of the old colour peeking through – remnants of a previous life?Â

How it started...
For those who know me, starting Monde du Brol must not come as a surprise: I have been proclaiming my love for vintage, second-hand, and even discarded things for years – and have been convincing people to do the same. Having my own little space to share these treasures has been a dream for long, an ever lingering thought in my head that someday I could make it happen…
And after lots of encouragement and support I decided to wait no longer! So, I invite you to step into this little world and have a look around. Follow me in my never ending quest to collect and curate collections of more ‘brol’. Get lost in tiny details, be in awe of some spectacular finds. I hope it inspires you to search for the things that make you happy, however idle they may seem.
